Acceptable ID Types for South Carolina
South Carolina voters must provide ID to vote. The following are accepted:
- South Carolina. Driver’s License
- South Carolina DMV ID Card
- South Carolina Voter Registration Card with photo
- Federal Military ID with photo
- U.S. Passport
Voter ID Details
If voting by-mail voter does not need to submit ID with application or with ballot, but they must have their signature witnessed. The voter signature will be compared to signature on the voter registration form.
What happens when you go to vote without an ID
You may vote a provisional ballot that will count only if you show your Photo ID to the county voter registration and elections office prior to certification of the election (usually Thursday or Friday after the election).
