Voter ID Details

If your voter registration is current and active, you do not need to bring identification. This means you were successfully registered at least 21 days before Election Day and you have not moved or changed names since then.

If you need to register to vote or update your registration, or you have not voted in four years or more, you will need to show proof of residence before you register and vote. You will also need to show an ID if you are returning an absentee ballot in person, and you may need to show ID if you are voting for the first time.

What happens when you go to vote without an ID

You will be able to vote a regular ballot, as IDs are not required to vote for most voters in Minnesota.
