Tappan is a veteran organizer with two decades of nonprofit experience working in civic engagement, environment, and social justice.
Tappan started volunteering with HeadCount in its inaugural year. Since then she has worked in multiple roles, including developing leadership recruitment and training programs, managing voter education through HeadCount's state information hub and developing strategic partnerships for national Get Out the Vote programs.
She leads HeadCount’s democracy protection work, with deep expertise in state and federal election policy, and its impact on voter turn out.
In her current role as Senior Director of Programming and Strategy, Tappan has led the development and integration of new voter engagement campaigns that bridge traditional field programs with digital tools and infrastructure.
Tappan lives in Richmond, VA with her family.
