Tappan is a veteran organizer with two decades of nonprofit experience working in civic engagement, environment, and social justice.
Tappan started as a HeadCount field volunteer when the organization was founded in 2004 and served as the San Francisco Team Leader from 2007 to 2008. In 2009, Tappan moved into national leadership, initially focused on growing and training HeadCount’s field team. Since that time she has been an integral part of the growth of the field program. She also developed HeadCount’s Field Organizer program to expand and increase HeadCount’s impact in new, and often underserved, markets.
Since 2015, Tappan has managed information and strategic partnerships to support HeadCount’s voter information and Get Out the Vote programs, including HeadCount’s election information hub that prepares millions of voters annually for their upcoming elections.
Tappan develops and leads voter engagement campaigns, such as HeadCount’s annual partnership with National Voter Registration Day, the March 24, 2018, March for Our Lives and subsequent Road to Change Bus Tour, and our 2020 Make Your Vote Count campaign.
Tappan lives in Raleigh, NC with her family.
