Justin Von den Steinen

Born and raised in New Jersey, Justin Von den Steinen graduated from Rutgers University with a degree in Journalism and Media Studies in 2019. A lover of music and politics, Justin has a passion for people, and dreams of inspiring others to become more engaged with the world around them.

He first discovered HeadCount in 2015 at a festival and immediately connected with its mission. After winning the guitar raffle at Camp Bisco in 2017, Justin was convinced he wanted to join the team once he finished school. As if fate had decided, within a week of earning his degree, Justin finally made the leap from music fan to volunteer at HeadCount in January of 2019.

Previously, Justin has written for The Daily Targum, an independent newspaper at Rutgers. He has also worked for the university’s communications department, moonlighted as a radio host, and has volunteered for numerous campaigns and charities. Some of his other interests include environmentalism, technology, acting, travel, photography, animal rights, and of course, the Grateful Dead.

Justin currently resides in Chatham, New Jersey, with his lovely girlfriend and their two cats, Cooper and Annabelle.
