The Roots and Wilco's Jeff Tweedy are among the performers at Saturday's Rally to Restore Sanity (and/or Fear) on the Washington Mall.
The event, conceived and hosted by Comedy Central's John Stewart and Stephen Colbert, has garnered more than 200,000 RSVPs on Facebook.
While details about the lineup have been scant, the full National Parks Dept. permit for the event has been made public, listing The Roots, Tweedy and Mavis Staples (who just released an album produced by Tweedy), and Sheryl Crow as performers. It also noted that other acts to be determined will perform, leading to speculation that Bruce Springsteen or Arcade Fire may show up.
The full schedule for the event was revealed in an article by the Christian Science Monitor.
The Roots will kick things off with a "pre-show" at noon. The Daily Show's John Stewart, the master of ceremonies, will first hit the stage at 1:05. His foil Stephen Colbert will join him at 1:20, followed by a 10-minute performance by Tweedy and Staples at 1:40. Crow is the final listed musical performer, playing for five minutes at 2:15. At 2:30, other musical guests will appear.
The event will end with a pre-taped presentation of the "Sanity and Fear Awards" and live closing statements by Stewart and Colbert.
All the festivities will be televised on Comedy Central from noon to 3 PM ET.
