Lime to the Polls

HeadCount & Lime Partner to Provide Free Rides to the Polls, Breaking Down Voting Barriers Ahead of Election Day

NEW YORKHeadCount, the national nonpartisan organization working to turn fans into voters, and Lime, a leading provider of shared electric vehicles globally, are partnering this fall to help make it easier for voters to get to the polls and participate in direct democracy.

As part of the Lime to the Polls campaign, Lime will provide free ride codes to HeadCount’s network of voters during the critical week leading up to Election Day, helping address key transportation barriers that can make it harder for people to cast their ballots. Voters can access two free 30-minute rides between October 24 and November 3 by visiting the HeadCount and Lime digital campaign website or texting LIME to 57568.

In addition, Lime is supporting the volunteers that make HeadCount’s voter engagement work possible, providing free 30-minute rides to HeadCount volunteer team leaders between July 1 and December 31, to attend events and activate their communities in civic engagement. Together, this partnership aims to make it easier for people to overcome logistical barriers to voting and make their voices heard this midterm election cycle.

“Every eligible voter should have a fair shot at making their voice heard on Election Day, and transportation shouldn’t stand in the way,” said Lucille Wenegieme, Executive Director at HeadCount. “At HeadCount, we’re committed to making civic participation more accessible and meeting people where they are so they can make their voices heard. By helping provide free rides to voters and HeadCount volunteers working to mobilize voters this midterm election cycle, this partnership helps remove one of the most common logistical hurdles that can keep people, especially young people, from participating in democracy — because where you live or your ability to access transportation shouldn’t determine whether your voice counts this November.”

The partnership comes at a critical moment, bringing together HeadCount’s expertise in engaging young voters with Lime’s transportation network to help remove one roadblock that can stand between voters and the ballot box.

“Voting is one of the most important ways people can make their voices heard, but getting to the polls can be a real barrier. Through Lime to the Polls, we’re helping make it easier for people to take part in the democratic process by providing free rides when they need them most. We’re also proud to support the HeadCount volunteers working on the ground to mobilize their communities by providing free rides to help them attend events and engage voters. Together, we’re helping make civic participation more accessible this election season,” said Emily Salazar, Social Impact and Advocacy at Lime.

Transportation remains one of the practical barriers that stands between eligible voters and the ballot box. Through Lime to the Polls, Lime and HeadCount are working to help remove that roadblock by making free rides available in the week leading up to and on Election Day.

ABOUT HEADCOUNT:

HeadCount uses the power of music, culture, and community to turn fans into voters. They’re a national, nonpartisan organization working to get more young people civically engaged than any other nonprofit in the country. They meet young people where they already are, at concerts, festivals, and online, and make it easy to register to vote, learn about elections, and take part in democracy.

Since 2004, they’ve registered over 1.7 million new voters through their work with artists like Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Sabrina Carpenter, Green Day, Dead & Co, Billie Eilish, and Alicia Keys. Their award-winning digital campaigns have driven tens of millions of voting actions, while their 125,000+ volunteer squad can be seen at more than 1,500 live events each year. They believe democracy works best when everyone has a voice. By removing barriers and keeping information simple and accessible, they help more people, especially young voters, shape the future.
