POSITION SUMMARY

HeadCount, a nonpartisan voter engagement organization, is seeking to hire a Digital Organizing Manager to manage its digital organizing platforms, including website, and a variety of 3rd party and internal platforms. This new position will report to the Director of Digital Innovation and Strategy. The Digital Organizing Manager will also be responsible for reporting, analysis of key metrics, and campaign optimization.

We are pioneers in the digital voter engagement space and whoever takes this position will be on the frontlines of innovation and voter engagement in the modern era. 

  SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Create and manage partner and project pages on headcount.org (headless CMS such as Payload CMS)  
  • Create and manage sweepstakes and voter engagement builds on 3rd party platforms (Impactive, TurboVote, etc.) 
  • Produce regular reporting and data analysis on site and platform results (GA4, internal dashboards) 
  • Test and refine digital programs to ensure effectiveness and data integrity
  • Work with Director of Digital Innovation & Strategy to identify trends in quantitative data to revise and refine digital programs to increase reach and impact in near real time
  • Collaborate with the Director of Digital Innovation & Strategy and other departments to ensure HeadCount’s digital experiences and properties remain effective and innovative 
  • Support basic project management for digital builds as needed
  • Create, build, and manage digital voter engagement streams on new platforms, while using both new and established tactics for voter registration and mobilization
  • Support the Comms and Development Depts. with complex CRM audience creation, segmentation, upload, and cleaning as needed

EXPECTATIONS

This is a remote position, with occasional (1-2 times per year) travel to an on-site organizational event or to occasionally support field work. As a remote worker, you are expected to have regular, consistent access to a strong internet connection with the ability to attend scheduled and occasional unscheduled video calls. A HeadCount laptop will be provided to you. You are expected to be able to work for 8 hours a day working on a computer. HeadCount has an office in New York City which some staff work in several days a week. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Highly proficient with website management software, ideally a headless CMS (DatoCMS) or similar 
  • Experience using digital organizing or CRM platforms such as EveryAction, Impactive, HubSpot, etc. 
  • Proficient in Google Business Suite, especially spreadsheets
  • Proficient with using spreadsheets and dashboards to perform basic calculations
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a team
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple assignments 
  • Familiarity with managing, auditing, and reporting on large datasets
  • Experience with voter registration, advocacy, or political campaigns is helpful but not required
  • Experience using voter file data to drive digital organizing 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of voter registration procedures and election laws 
  • A commitment to democracy and democratic values, while remaining non-partisan 
  • Experience with reporting on or using meta data from advertising campaigns to increase impact  
  • Comfortable and diligent with occasionally repetitive digital tasks (builds)
  • Competency in cybersecurity for large datasets across multiple platforms

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to exchange accurate information, detect/identify documents and the information contained in them, move between areas in and out of the office to complete their role. The employee may need to move various equipment including computers to their work location.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS 

Salary Range: $65,000 - $67,000
Full time position. FLSA exempt.

Position Summary:

This role will collaborate with functions across the organization including policy, artist relations, partnerships, development, marketing, and more to grow and foster a robust group of high net-worth individuals that support the HeadCount mission. They will maintain an existing pool of donors as well as seek to engage new strategic bases of potential givers. They will also run a series of fundraising events and auctions connected to our artist community, and collaborate with the Communications Dept to facilitate digital fundraising efforts.

Role Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors (individuals, foundations, and others as needed)
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities through strategic networking and outreach.
  • Collaborate with the executive team to set fundraising goals, create compelling materials that align donor interests with HeadCount’s mission, and report progress regularly.
  • Use CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce, EveryAction) to track donor activity and improve engagement strategies.
  • Manage annual giving campaigns and assist with grant reporting and institutional fundraising as needed.
  • Oversee the strategy, planning, and execution of auctions and donor experiences at concerts and festivals nationwide in coordination with other staff as needed.
  • Ensure seamless donor experience at live events including high-touch communication, onsite logistics, and post-event follow-up
  • Oversee donor database management and develop a strong base of contacts with philanthropic advisory institutions and family offices in the USA and abroad.
  • Use EveryAction to maintain an accurate database of current and prospective opportunities, as well as current gifts.
  • Unify and operationalize all systems, resources, policies and requirements for donor tracking, integrated field activity measurements and related complex projects.

Expectations:

  • A passion for democracy. Support the management of full and part-time staff, volunteers, team leaders, and contract staff as needed
  • Approach all work through the lens of
    • diversity (how can we introduce a new perspective or experience?),
    • equity (how do we make sure the people who need more from HeadCount get it?),
    • and inclusion (who is missing and how do we include them?)
  • Up to 25% travel for on-site programming, staff support, and other needs
    Regular reporting on fundraising across relevant categories including but not limited to fundraising totals, diversity
  • metrics, and any intermediary reporting for the purposes of strategy and donor engagement

Qualifications:

Required

  • 5+ years experience in a relevant donor relations role.
  • Proven track record in fundraising, donor relations, or business development for organizations with budgets 7-figures and above — preferably in the nonprofit or music industries.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and networking skills; able to build trust and rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to turn ideas into action.
  • Strong teambuilding, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Willingness to travel frequently (especially during festival season) and for extended periods, and work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Passion for civic engagement, democracy, and the music community.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a youth-centric organization or company
  • A strong understanding and continued mastery of brand market positioning for nonprofit and for-profit entities
  • Experience managing and leveraging high-profile stakeholders including celebrities and/or confidential donors
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to travel and drive cargo vans and maintain event gear/inventory.
  • A strong connection to volunteerism or social impact work
  • Experience managing digital or hybrid donor events

Physical Requirements:

The employee may need to move various equipment including computers to their work location. 

This role involves being able to move items over long distances to facilitate on-site advances for activations. This role also requires a valid driver’s license with the ability to drive long distances and at night.

About the position:

Team Leaders are volunteer organizers in a designated metro area. They lead HeadCount voter registration drives at live events, such as concerts, festivals, community events, and more. They organize and train area volunteers, lead HeadCount tables at events, and are responsible for collecting and returning voter registration forms. Within their metro area, Team Leaders also work with venues, promoters, and community event organizers to identify the best local opportunities to register voters.They represent the organization with professionalism and positivity and bring joy to democracy!

Expectations:

  • Lead HeadCount voter registration drives at concerts, festivals, community events, and more. 
  • Train volunteer teams on-site at events to register voters and engage with fans about getting involved with democracy.
  • Handle voter registration forms and follow all HeadCount procedures for returning these promptly in accordance with all legal requirements.
  • Identify gaps in voter registration access in your community, and reach out to local small businesses, community groups, and event organizers to set up voter registration drives.
  • Interface with venue staff and tour production crews from HeadCount affiliated artists.
  • Actively participate in HeadCount’s onboarding training and ongoing supplemental training to have an understanding of voter registration laws, rules and guidelines.
  • When required, register and/or obtain certification to run third party voter registration drives from state or locality. 
  • Make best efforts to attend ongoing programming and community building opportunities for Team Leaders, including monthly national organizer calls, regional calls, office hours, retreats, etc.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to nonpartisan voter registration, voter education and turnout programs. 
  • Have a flexible schedule so that you are able to be on-site at event designated arrival time (typically one hour to 90 minutes before doors and two hours before event start. .
    • Most volunteer opportunities events happen in the evening or during the weekend.
  • Commitment to work towards HeadCount cycle goals for civic actions, voter registration, events, and fan engagement.
  • Commitment to following voter registration laws and processes, safety guidelines, venue entry, and other HeadCount protocols.
  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Relevant leadership experience.
  • Strong work ethic, maturity, and sense of accountability.

Stipend:

  • Active Team Leaders are eligible for an annual stipend to cover basic volunteer expenses such as gas, metro cards, or venue parking.
