Yim Yames to Light Up DC

Every year in early December there is a Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in Washington, DC on the Ellipse in President's Park. When it come's to Christmas tree lightings I'm thinking Barry White, Bing Crosby, maybe Shania Twain these days? However, with a President who loves Bob Dylan, and has Lil Wayne and Jay-Z on his iPod we're getting something a little more interesting this year.

Yim Yames (aka Jim James) is set to be one of the performers at this year's ceremony. Front man of one of today's best rock bands, My Morning Jacket, he definitely wins the award for most likely to literally "rock around the xmas tree." You've also got some more expected acts such as Maroon 5 and Sara Bareilles on the bill, as well as blues guitar legend B.B. King. Let's hope for a B.B./Yim collaboration on "Little Drummer Boy."

To get an idea of whether "change" really has come to Washington, check out the line up from George W. Bush's roster in 2008: Country star Rissi Palmer (shocker), Grammy winner Jon Secada and singer/songwriter Phil Vassar.

If you're in DC go check it out on December 9th starting at 5pm. If not, you can stream it online.
