Voter ID Details

Voters in Illinois do not need to show ID, with the exception of first time voters who did not complete their voter registration form by including their ID number or last four of their social security number. If this is your first time voting and you registered to vote by mail, you will need to provide identification. We recommend a photo ID with your current address, an official piece of mail with your current address or any of the other valid IDs listed above.

Voter ID & Voting By Mail

First time voters must submit ID when voting by mail.

ID is required with completed mail-in ballot.

If voting-by-mail, ID is still not required but signature must match the signature on the voter registration form.

What happens when you go to vote without an ID

You will be able to vote a regular ballot.
