Acceptable ID Types for Colorado

Colorado voters must show ID at the polls to vote. All voters are sent a mail-in ballot to the address associated with their voter registration, no ID is required if voting-by-mail. If the ID displays an address, the address must be a CO address to be accepted. Valid form of identification include;

• A current Colorado driver’s license or ID card
• A current U.S. passport
• A current Medicare or Medicaid card
• Certified U.S. birth certificate or naturalization document
• Group residential care facility verification
• Tribal certificate
• Name and address on copy of utility bill, bank statement, paycheck or government document including check within the last 60 days
• A valid employee identification card with a photograph of the eligible elector issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the United States government or of this state, or by any county, municipality, board, authority, or other political subdivision of this state
• A current US military or veteran ID with photo
• A current student ID issued by a postsecondary school in Colorado with photo
• Verification of group residential facility
• Pilot's License
• Revenue ID Card
• Verification of person committed to the DHS
• Written correspondence form County Sheriff that person is confined

 

What happens when you go to vote without an ID
