Acceptable ID Types for Alaska

Alaska voters must bring ID with them to the polls to vote. Must be current

  • Signed voter ID card
  • Driver’s license issued by any state
  • State ID card issued by any state
  • Military ID card
  • US Passport
  • Hunting or fishing license issued by any state
  • Other current or valid photo identification (including student photo ID)
  • If name and address are included:
    • Current utility bill or paycheck
    • Government check or bank statement, or other government-issued document

The photo-ID requirement may be waived if an election worker can attest to who you are.

What happens when you go to vote without an ID

You can vote using a provisional ballot.  A review board will decide if that ballot can be counted.
