Remember in 2006, when Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) used the "series of tubes" analogy to describe the Internet and YOU were named Time magazine's person of the year?

How prescient they were. Four years later, the Internet's "series of tubes" has now been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. An organization called Internet for Peace supports the nomination because it claims a win for the Internet represents "a win for each and every one of us."

As reported by the BBC, there are a record 237 nominees for this year's Nobel Peace Prize, which will be announced October 8.

The Internet nomination is being heralded by the Italian version of Wired magazine for the "dialogue, debate, and consensus" connectivity has brought us.

What would YOU give the Nobel to?
