In an interview with Larry King, Laura Bush admits that there are at least two areas where she and G.W. don't see eye to eye.
On gay marriage:
I think there are a lot of people who have trouble coming to terms with that because they see marriage as traditionally between a man and a woman, but I also know that when couples are committed to each other and love each other that they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has.
On choice:
I was asked [by Katie Couric] if I thought Roe v. Wade should be overturned. Sort of everything went through my mind. This was the very morning my husband was about to be inaugurated and I thought, do I really want to start my husband's term suggesting that a Supreme Court ruling be overturned and I said no. I think it's important that it remain legal. I think it's important for people for medical reasons and for other reasons.
She also makes a good point by saying that gay marriage will come and pointed to a generational shift being the key factor. Jason Linkins at the Huffington Post points out that Bush is probably right because, frankly, the most significant group of people opposed to it's legalization will all be dead pretty soon.
In case this news is causing you to worry your pretty little heads about the Bush's marriage stability, Laura has some more calming words: "I really understand his view point and he understands mine."
