A First Person Account from Ground Zero

Last night, around a quarter to twelve, I put on a jacket and walked to the spontaneous gathering at Ground Zero. I wanted, badly, to celebrate an historic occasion.  But there was something incredibly vulgar about the spirit of that moment. For a lot of the crowd, it seemed to be just an excuse to party, and I couldn’t shake the fact that we were doing it in the shadow of a mass murder.
