Don’t miss your next election! Louisiana will hold its presidential preference primary election on April 4th to prepare for the November 3rd presidential and congressional election. Louisiana will also hold municipal elections across the state on May 9th.

Louisiana registers voters by party and holds a modified primary. Voters who are unaffiliated or registered with the Democratic Party may participate in its primary. Voters who are registered with the Republican party may participate in its primary.

Early Voting + Absentee Voting

Early Voting Dates: March 21st to March 28th

You can vote in person at your registrar of voters’ office and designated locations from March 21st to March 28th before the election. No excuse required.

To vote absentee by mail, first you’ll need to apply for an absentee ballot (click here) no later than March 31st. Then, when you complete your absentee ballot, it must mailed in time to be received by your registrar of voters by 4:30 p.m. on April 3rd.
