Participation Row and Okeechobee: A Perfect Match

The first ever Participation Row social action village at the Okeechobee Music Festival was a tremendous success!

This year’s Okeechobee Fest saw performances from Bassnectar, Solange, Usher, The Roots, Kings of Leon and GRiZ in addition to hosting Participation Row in the interactive ChobeeWobee village. The Row was organized by us at HeadCount and Clean Energy Advisors, an Orlando-based social impact investment firm, who brought along with their Solar Truck.

HeadCount volunteers registered 235 new voters and signed up 1,543 festival attendees up to receive local election alerts from our friends at TurboVote.

And most important, 5,069 socially conscious actions were taken on Participation Row. 1,689 festival-goers took multiple actions and entered the free drawing for a custom OMF D’Angelico guitar signed by Usher, The Roots, Solange, Flume, Logic, Young the Giants, Cold War Kids, Mac DeMarco, Brock Butler (P. Groove), Sleigh Bells, GRiZ and Michael McDonald. The giveaway was won by Kate McReary of Atlanta, pictured below.

A VIP auction for a signed festival poster and D’Angelico axe raised $10,800 for local non-profits, thanks to Clean Energy Advisors dollar-for-dollar donation match.

Additionally one video we shared on Instagram received over 700,000 views and another received over 400,000 views.

Participation Row featured 9 non-profit organizations including: Treasure Coast Food Bank, United Way of Lee, Hendry Glades and Okeechobee County, Big Brothers Big Sisters of OkeechobeeOkeechobee Substance Abuse Coalition, The Warrior Center, Okeechobee Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 69, the Home Builders Institute, Martha’s House, and HeadCount.

See you next year on Participation Row!
