NY Republican says “F–k It”, supports gay marriage bill

New York State Senator Roy McDonald just dropped the f-bomb (and promised a vote bomb) on the New York Senate today, promising to vote in favor of legalizing gay marriage. Under pressure from other Senate Republicans and conservative groups, McDonald seems to have snapped and made it clear he's voting from the heart on this one:

"You get to the point where you evolve in your life where everything isn't black and white, good and bad, and you try to do the right thing," McDonald, 64, told reporters.

"You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing.

"I'm tired of Republican-Democrat politics. They can take the job and shove it. I come from a blue-collar background. I'm trying to do the right thing, and that's where I'm going with this."

His comments send a strong message to Senate Republicans (and Democrats for that matter) and bring the passage of a bill submitted by Governor Andrew Cuomo that would legalize gay marriage in New York, only one vote shy of passage.

Regardless of where you stand on the issue, you must admit: it's refreshing to see a politician stand up to his party's status-quo and the promise of support from state religious leaders. His facebook page is currently being blown up with messages of thanks, not only from NY constituents, but from people around the world.
