White House Lawn is Getting Greener

Living healthier and going green is not just a wonted dream of environmentally conscious youth and Whole Foods addicts. Initializing the "expansion of service learning in our nation's schools and youth programs" as outlined in the White House Agenda, First Lady, Michelle Obama, and Agriculture Secretary, Tom Vilsack, hosted students from Bancroft Elementary to plant a garden and learn about healthy eating. This is the same group of kids who participated in the initial groundbreaking for the south lawn garden. The kids will continue to learn about and cook their grown food, which will then be eaten and donated to homeless shelther in the DC area.
