The Dead are Coming and Giving Along the Way

Today is Monday, April 6, 2009 and I am sitting inside, dreading my lack of an umbrella as it thunderstorms in New York City. Up side: The Dead will be here in 19 days. I could go play in that rain, I'm so excited! Touring with HeadCount friends Jeff Chimenti and Warren Hayes, the 19 dates in 16 cities are sure to be a tad nostalgic and a heap inspirational.

Just as exciting as the show itself (in theory), the band is auctioning off ticket packages, in association with Charity Folks, to contribute to some of their causes including the Rex FoundationFurther FoundationUnbroken Chain Foundation and Sea Shepard Conservation Society. In an interview with Billboard, Weir explained, "It always seemed to us that you get some, you give some back. It's just something we've always done..." So even though those tickets are a bit pricey (Madison Square Garden is not my favorite venue...) it is a nice consolation to know that part of the fees is going to a good cause.

If you want to participate in the auction, head here.
