Ronnie Gilley, head of Bamajam Records and Bamajam Music and Arts Festival was arrested yesterday for a massive bribery scheme. Encore reports that along with 10 others, Gilley was arrested on charges of conspiracy, bribery and money laundering in an attempt to legalize gambling in Alabama. The Country Standard reports more specifically "electronic bingo."
All of the defendants, including state senators from both parties are said to have used "spy movie" methods such as "safe" phones, in person meetings and "backdoor" methods to transfer campaign contributions in order keep this under the radar.
The senators were charged with accepting or agreeing to accept these bribes including campaign contributions in the form of country music star appearances. Bamajam records includes all of Matt Kennon and Blackberry Smoke, how could they resist?
