A pair of Dave Matthews Band shows at New York's Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) led to 30 arrests, including a charge of sexual assault against a David Matthews of Cohoes, New York - no relation to the singer - for "inappropriately touching a woman during the concert," according to the local television station WTEN.
The station also reported that police now want to be armed with Tasers at SPAC concerts.
"Our officers are sometimes injured at these concert events," said regional Vice President of the New York State Park Police officers' union, Donald Lavarge, "That's totally unacceptable and we can't tolerate that behavior."
To Lavarge, it's time for some changes to be made at SPAC. He says large concerts like the Dave Matthews Band often turn into a massive public safety issues; something Tasers could prevent.
"If officers are trained to use them effectively, it could be a very successful tool with helping us here," he said.
Upcoming opportunities to roll out the Tasers include: 311 on Tuesday June 23, Def Leppard on July 3, O.A.R. on August 9, and Creed on August 11, all leading up to Phish on August 16.
