- Everything Kendrick Lamar
With the most nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards (11), it is safe to say that last night’s show was all about Kendrick Lamar. Kendrick took home a total of five awards. Some of which include: Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Album.
Not only did he win big, but he also proved it was his night with a performance of two original songs (“The Backer the Berry” and “Alright”) and a little bit of freestyle.

- Bruno Mars yelling at Beyoncé and then winning the award for Record of the Year
As sick as some people are of the song “Uptown Funk”, there is no doubt in my mind that it deserved to win Record of The Year. This funky tune dominated pop radio stations for months. I am so happy for everyone who was involved with the creation of this song. Just amazing. And while Beyoncé was introducing the award, Bruno interrupted by saying, “Let’s go Beyoncé. Let’s do it”! It would have been awkward if someone else had won, but thankfully “Uptown Funk” was called out and the majority of the audience was thrilled.

- Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton acceptance speech
During award shows I usually mute acceptance speeches. I tend to find them boring and repetitive, but when Lin-Manuel Miranda rapped his acceptance speech, I was blown away. This was such a creative way to accept an award, and it really represented his award-winning show. I also absolutely adored the shout out he gave his son when he said, “Sebastian, Daddy’s bringing home a Grammy for you”!

- Demi Lovato’s performance of “Hello” during the Lionel Richie tribute.
The Lionel Richie tribute only made this list because of Demi Lovato. I was pretty bored until she took the microphone to sing “Hello”. Her powerhouse vocals made this tribute one to remember. Even Lionel Richie was impressed.
Demi is the focus of the tribute from 1:50-3:11 if you want to check out her amazing vocals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=awY3Jko5kYg
- James Bay and Tori Kelly’s duet
I might be slightly biased on this one because James Bay and Tori Kelly are two of my favorite artists. Regardless, James Bay and Tori Kelly did an amazing job. The pair took the stage with guitars in hand for one of the more laidback productions of the night. They sang a mash up and their songs “Let It Go” and “Hallow”.
Unfortunately, I could not find a decent video of their performance, but if you are web savvy and as obsessed with James Bay and Tori Kelly as I am, I would recommend hunting down their duet.
