Sophia Mazzella is a third year student at Franklin & Marshall College with a passion for music and political science. She is on track to receive her BA in English and Government in May of 2027. Her lifelong training as a singer and music theorist has led her to receive invitations to perform at some of the world's premiere venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. Her work as an assistant across local music festival initiatives has filled her with a great passion for music business and increasing live music accessibility for young people, as has her experience serving on several music executive boards with her roles spanning from Treasurer and Social Chair of her college acapella group to Vice President of Student-Musician Affairs.
She became a member of her college’s nonpartisan voter registration team during her first month at school where she learned that empowerment is not reserved for those of a singular opinion, but that it is reserved for all; a mantra she strives to embody as a HeadCount Music and Politics intern. This year, she was elected by that same registration initiative to become the college’s Get Out The Vote (GOTV) Committee Chair.
Sophia’s ultimate aspiration is to become a tour manager or a ghost writer. You can always find her listening to music (probably David Bowie or Adrianne Lenker) and if you ever need a spare pair of headphones, she’s more than got you covered!
