Carly Stein

Carly is a recent graduate of Barnard College of Columbia University; her life’s work will center on the mental and emotional well being of children. Born in New York and raised by a family with a passion for rock, new wave and alternative music, she could quote lyrics from The Cure to Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam from the time she was a toddler. Carly began volunteering with HeadCount at American Utopia on Broadway, an opportunity to be in the same venue as the incomparable Mr. David Byrne of the Talking Heads. While her family was formative in her passion for music, Carly’s love & devotion began with One Direction and continues in perpetuity with Harry Styles. Seeing the HeadCount table and crew at Madison Square Garden for Harryween in October 2021, gave Carly the impetus to persist and eventually become a TL. Carly has worked for Sunrise Association for Children With Cancer since she was 16 years old, and is a volunteer at New York Presbyterian’s Pediatric Oncology Department where art and
crafts provide a respite. Without question, the most impactful music-related experience of Carly’s life came in 2015, when she and her family were returning to their hotel from the Foo Fighters concert at Fenway Park and standing in the lobby was the immensely talented and kind Taylor Hawkins. Taking a photo with him and chatting was an otherworldly treat, and now a treasure for a lifetime.
