Women-Owned Record Stores

Locally owned small businesses are essential to our economy and are proven to help our communities build wealth, job opportunities, and stronger social networks, while decreasing income inequality.

The recent COVID-relief bill is a great example of how federal policy can step in to help small businesses in a state of emergency. Local policy has the most direct line to cultivate local businesses in your community. Policies such as micro-financing programs, zoning, real estate costs, and incentives to developers or landlords support the local economy.

In addition to paying attention to where your local elected officials stand on policy that impacts small businesses, you can also use your consumer power to buy from local stores.

As we continue to honor #WomensHistoryMonth we’ve put together a state-by-state guide on local women-owned record stores - check it out & see who you can help support in your own community!

And don’t forget to see if you have a local election in 2021!
