HEADCOUNT, INC. PRIVACY POLICY
Effective as of January 26, 2022 HeadCount respects your privacy and does not sell your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes how HeadCount, Inc. (“HeadCount,” “we”, “us” or “our”) handles personal information that we collect through our website and other digital properties that link to this Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Service”). We collect personal information to keep you informed about upcoming elections, action opportunities, volunteer events, and organizational updates.
PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Information you provide to us. Personal information you may provide to us through the Service or otherwise, includes:
- Contact data, such as your first and last name, email address, mailing address, and phone number.
- Communications that we exchange, including when you contact us with questions, feedback, or otherwise.
- Payments and transactional data needed to process online donations or purchases from our Merch store, including name, contact data, gift or purchase amount and preferences, payment information (including credit card information), bank account number, billing information, and your transaction history. - Voter registration information that you provide to us when you register to vote online or at an event.
- Volunteer information that you provide to us when you sign up to volunteer with or through us.
- Marketing data, such as your preferences for receiving communications about our services, activities, events, and publications, and details about how you engage with our communications.
- Content that you may upload through the Service or otherwise share with us, such as documents, files, photographs, audio and video files, and any metadata associated with this content.
- Other information that we may collect which is not specifically listed here, which we will use as described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.
Third party sources. We may combine personal information we receive from you with personal information we obtain from other sources, which may include:
- Public sources, such as social media platforms and public media websites.
- Third party donation platforms that share donor data with us.
- Publicly available information, such as from voter registration databases and other publicly accessible locations.
Automatic data collection. We, our service providers, and our business partners may automatically log information about you, your computer or mobile device, and your activity over time on our Service and other online services, such as:
- Device data, such as your computer or mobile device operating system type and version number, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, IP address, unique identifiers, the website you visited before browsing to our website, and general location information such as city, state or geographic area.
- Activity and usage data, such as pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, and duration of access.
Cookies and similar technologies. Like many online services, we use the following technologies:

- Session Replay Technologies, we use third party services provided by FullStory that employ software code to record users’ interactions with the Services in a manner that allows us to watch DVR-like replays of those user sessions. The replays include users’ clicks, mobile app touches, mouse movements, scrolls, and keystrokes during those sessions. These replays help us diagnose usability problems and identify areas for improvement. - audit our internal processes for compliance with legal and contractual requirements and internal policies;

HOW WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
We use your personal information for the following purposes or as otherwise described at the time we collect it: Service delivery. We may use your personal information to:
- provide, operate and improve the Service and our business;
- communicate with you, your affiliates or your organization about your donations, Merch purchases or otherwise, including by sending announcements, updates, security alerts, and support and administrative messages;
- process your donations;
- process your voter registration;
- engage in activities designed to increase voter registration and voting rates;
- understand your needs and interests, and personalize your experience with the Service and our communications; and
- provide support for the Service, and respond to your requests, questions and feedback.
Promoting our events. We may send you communications promoting HeadCount events as permitted by law. You may opt-out of our email communications as described in the Opt-out of promotional communications section below. Research and development. We may use your personal information for research and development purposes, including to analyze and improve the Service and our business. As part of these activities, we may create aggregated, de-identified or other anonymous data from personal information we collect. We make personal information into anonymous data by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to you. We may use this anonymous data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes, including to analyze and improve the Service and promote our business. Compliance and protection. We may use your personal information to:
- comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities;
- protect our, your or others’ rights, privacy, safety or property (including by making and defending legal claims);

- HeadCount sms alerts: HeadCount Org will send 4 msgs/month and data rates apply. HeadCount will send reminders about when, where, and how to vote. This includes reminders to verify and register to vote, upcoming election alerts, and volunteer opportunities.

SHARING AND PROTECTION OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.
We do not sell your information and we take care to make sure your privacy is protected. We may share your personal information with the following parties and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy or at the time of collection: Service providers. We may share information with companies, nonprofits and individuals that provide services on our behalf or help us operate the Service or our business (such as information technology, hosting, customer relationship management and support, advertising, marketing, event registration, marketing, website analytics, payment processing). However, these parties are prohibited from using personal information for any purpose other than to provide services to HeadCount or as required by law. Voter registration information. When you provide personal information and other unique identifiers that are required by law to register to vote (either through our online voter registration tool or at an event), information is submitted to voter registration authorities in the State in which you register to vote. This information may be published in public records or otherwise be accessible to the public, available for inspection and use by legitimate candidates for public office and their campaign organizations, and others who qualify to access such information under applicable State or local laws. Partners and voter advocacy organizations. We may provide publicly available information regarding voter registration to our partners and organizations with principles and/or missions that are consistent with ours in order to increase voter turnout. We may also provide information from voter registration applications or other civic participation actions to partners to whom we provide access to our online voter registration and civic engagement tools, but only when clearly indicated on the user interface. Professional advisors. Professional advisors, such as lawyers, auditors, bankers and insurers, where necessary in the course of the professional services that they render to us. Authorities and others. Law enforcement, government authorities, and private parties, as we believe in good faith to be necessary or appropriate as legally required for the compliance and protection purposes described above. Business transferees. Relevant participants in business transactions (or potential transactions) involving a corporate divestiture, merger, consolidation, acquisition, reorganization, sale or other disposition of all or any portion of the business or assets of, or equity interests in, HeadCount or our affiliates (including, in connection with a bankruptcy or similar proceedings).
YOUR CHOICES
You have the following choices with respect to your personal information: Opt-out of promotional communications. You may opt out of emails and other communications that promote our events or partnerships by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of the email, or by contacting us. You may continue to receive service-related and other non-marketing emails or communications. Opt-out of use of voter registration information by partners/similar organizations. You may opt out of the sharing of information you provide when you use our voter registration tools with our partners and organizations with principles and/or missions similar to ours by emailing us at [email protected] within 10 days of completing your voter registration application. The email should include your name, email address, date on which you registered to vote and the location at which you registered to vote (by specifying the name of the event or that you registered online). Cookies. Most browsers let you remove and/or stop accepting cookies from the websites you visit. To do this, follow the instructions in your browser’s settings. Many browsers accept cookies by default until you change your settings. If you do not accept cookies, however, you may not be able to use all functionality of the Service and our Service may not work properly. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFER
We are headquartered in the United States and may use service providers that operate in other countries. Your personal information may be transferred to the United States and other locations where privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your state, province, or country.
CHILDREN
We do not knowingly collect personal information through the Service from children under 13 without the consent of their parent or guardian as required by law, but if we learn that we have done so inadvertently, we will delete that information.
