Since January I have been lucky enough to see a concert every month at College Street Music Hall, an experience I am able to share with my amazing Connecticut HeadCount volunteers. The venue is located in the great downtown of New Haven, Connecticut. College Street allows HeadCount to set up a table in their lobby at shows and we’ve been able to register voters while some of the best bands in America play, including Wilco, Umphrey's McGee, Kurt Vile, OAR, Dr. Dog, Ben Harper, Gogol Bordello, STRFKR, Twiddle (for a 2 night run!) and just the other night Jason Isbell.
There are lots of great venues in Connecticut, but College Street Music hall has been incredible for HeadCount to register voters at. The staff is super friendly and alway greet us with a smile, accommodating us all the way.
Gogol Bordello was by far my favorite memory at College St this year. They really project the energy and are so much fun. Everyone jumping and dancing like there's no tomorrow makes all our hard work at the end of the day completely worth it. They definitely have made my list of don’t miss bands!
And getting to see all of this awesome music isn't the best part of it though. It's getting to catch great shows while doing something good, helping people register to vote. Great thanks to College St for allowing us to make it happen!
