Louisiana: Four Statewide Ballot Measures

Louisiana held an election with four statewide ballot measures appearing on March 29th. These measures were wide-ranging in the topics that they are focused on.

Amendment 1 - Would allow the state legislature to establish specialized courts for business and other issues.
Amendment 2 - Would make changes to Louisiana's tax system and state budgeting policies.
Amendment 3 - Would allow the state legislature to decide which felony crimes can result in a juvenile being tried as an adult.
Amendment 4 - Would impact when special elections for judicial vacancies are held.

The election resulted in all 4 amendments being rejected by Louisiana voters. Voter turnout for this election was 21%, which is actually a massive jump for the March local elections, which in 2017 was 12% and 2021 was 16%.

Various communities in Louisiana have elections throughout the remainder of 2025. Contact your local elections office to learn if you have an election this year.
