Trigger the Vote with Chuck Norris

The National Rifle Association has launched Trigger the Vote, its own GOTV campaign sponsored by the NRA Freedom Action Foundation and is using the one and only Chuck Norris to convince voters to show up at the polls this year. And he's threatening to hunt you down if you don't:

This year’s 2010 mid-term elections are more important than ever for the future of our country and our Second Amendment rights. If we aren’t able to make major changes in how our nation’s business is handled, I’ll come looking for the people who sat this election out. You can stay off that list by registering to vote – right now.

Trigger the Vote has a fairly interactive website where you can register to vote, find your polling place and hear stories from voters concerned about their 2nd Amendment rights. Both Chuck Norris and rocker Ted Nugent are lending their time and brute strength to the effort by appearing in public service announcements like the one above.

It is a bit strange though that the ad featuring Norris, the Trigger the Vote Honorary Chairman, seems to ironically reinforce stereotypes about those who value their second amendment rights as being uneducated rednecks with more resemblance to Kenny Powers than a conservative gun owner.
