Our Friend Sarah Venning

With great sorrow, HeadCount would like to extend its condolences to the family and friends of Sarah Venning. Sarah was our New Orleans team leader in 2004 and a wonderful force in our community. Her life was taken prematurely in a car accident while driving to the High Sierra Music Festival. She was planning to celebrate here 26th birthday at High Sierra, where she had been the backstage massage therapist since 2003.

Sarah had spent the last few months launching A Conscious Tune, a non-profit organization raising money to aid the restoration of New Orleans. She embodied the spirit of the HeadCount organization in every aspect of her life. An adventurous, entrepreneurial and altruistic person, she studied massage in Thailand and was a partner in a massage studio and wellness center in New Orleans. She promoted shows at small music clubs. She wrote reviews for grassroots music publications. Sarah's vision for A Conscious Tune was to revive and preserve the unique culture of New Orleans by raising funds through benefit concerts, and she was well on her way to making this vision a reality before her life was taken so tragically. We'll miss you, Sarah. May your incredible spirit live on in those you touched.
